How's your day? Have you read Washington Post regarding our minister? Well, you better check this out.
Quite shocking yet embarasing, eh? Well, I appreciate his believe not to touch other women who has not related by blood or marriage (muhrim). But what I regret was his statement, “I tried to prevent [being touched] with my hands but Mrs. Michelle held her hands too far toward me so we touched.”
The minister became an immediate target of public ridicule as the nation’s news channels repeated the footage over and over in slow motion on Wednesday, as if to assuage any doubt as to what had exactly happened at the reception.
FYI, on his twitter account @tifsembiring, he tweeted including blaming natural disasters on a lack of morality and joking about AIDS. These might make people in twitterland reacted. As a minister of Communications and Information Technology, in my opinion he doesn't have that kind of good communication skills. Indonesia is not a Muslim country, but yes Muslim is the majority religion here. In these case, he puts himself as if Indonesia does not respect pluralism. Shame on him.
Believing what he believed was right. That is part of his belief that I respect. What's wrong is as a minister of Communications and Information Technology, he acts as if he was minister of religion. Minister of the Islamic religion, huh?
As human beings, he has the right to speak and argue. What I regret is: Should he tweet self-defense by dragging the First Lady? President Obama and his wife were guests of honor country, was not a joke status. Should Mrs. Obama mentioned in the tweet Mr. Minister, even with the charges difficult to prove by the evidence?
Is it hard to admit when you make mistakes that are not intentional? I think Indonesia and the international community will not bother with such an assertion.
"Yes, it was my mistake. I made a mistake. I was not supposed to do so (DOT)"
